I am following the spelling of the Cambridge dictionary, which defines a well-travelled person as one who has visited many foreign countries. Some individuals see the world by air, others by sea or by land. Some people journey by airplane, others by car or by bicycle. It is the well-travelled shoe, however, that may have seen it all. Whether travel is a life-long commitment, or a single great adventure, it may very well be the soles of our shoes that are the true indicators of how well trekked we are. Nevertheless, extraordinary life experiences can be found everywhere, including the very streets of our neighborhoods. I dedicate this painting to global explorers and flaneurs of the city alike, to all those who have been fortunate to enjoy corners of the globe, both near and far, before Covid – 19.
